Students Achieving The Gold Medal In International Robot Olympiad

More Medals and Awards … Those are what the BPK PENABUR Jakarta students can give to honour their schools, teachers, parents and especially God. The students joined the 12th International Robot Olympiad 2010 (IRO) in Tallebudgera Sports Centre Gold Coast, Queensland Australia on 14-17 December 2010. Before they went to Australia, they had met Dr.Ir. Ashwin Sasongko, Msc, Dirjen Aptel Kominfo. He gave some support to all Indonesian Delegations on 10 December 2010. There were 88 Indonesian students from 10 schools. It meant that BPK PENABUR students had to deal with many contestants from Indonesia and other countries, such as South Korea, Malaysia, China, Philippines, China, Singapore and Australia.

With hard work and prayers, J2M (Joshua, Jeremy and Michael), SDK 2 students, got the Gold Medal. They were the only one Indonesian team getting Gold Medal. For the first time, we got worried because when the host announced the winner, most of the Gold Medals were dominated by South Korean Teams.  Although South Korean Robots were good, J2M’s robot could beat them all. The robot, Clewamorsee can clean the dirtiest water found in rivers around Jakarta. They took almost one month to finish their project and create their robot. The other teams that got Technical Awards were Army Team and Eagle Team from SMPK Gading Serpong and SMAK 1 & Gading Serpong.

Besides competing in IRO, the students also spent their last day shopping and visiting the Currumbin Wildlife. They also interacted   with Australian people. They were very helpful and kind. Finally we prepared our things and went home to Indonesia.

Congratulation to J2M students of SDK 2 PENABUR
